MOBILIZING HALF THE MALDIVES – #fortheoceans
to celebrate world oceans month, Parley maldives is planning an unprecedented day of action this saturday – from underwater cleanups to community action across over 300 islands
Besides managing our most extensive and longest-running country program, the Parley Maldives team always seems to go above and beyond – whether it’s celebrating incredible milestones like removing 100 giant shipping containers of waste or just casually capturing an impromptu shoot for Clean Waves. This World Oceans Month, however, they really are taking things to another level.
Working in partnership with the Maldives Ministry of Education and Maldives Association for Tourism Industry (MATI), the crew are organizing an absolutely massive day of action on Saturday 17 June under the tagline “Maldives For The Oceans”. The day will see coastal cleanups and community events taking place across over 300 islands, alongside a huge push for underwater cleanups in collaboration with dozens of resorts, dive centers and safari boats. As if that wasn’t logistically hard enough, Parley Maldives will also be going live on national TV and radio with a series of educational content pieces, online lectures from marine biologists and much more.
You can learn more on the Maldives for the Oceans microsite and follow along live on there, on Parley social media and on Parley Maldives Instagram this Saturday.
