"We are at war with the oceans. And if we win, we lose it all." –Cyrill Gutsch
We live on a finite planet, and we're depleting its resources at a far faster rate than they can replenish themselves. One of the most effective ways to make an immediate impact for the better is to reconsider the ingredients on our plates. The new challenge for the culinary class is to develop a futurist's mentality while planning menus for the here and now. The alternative is simple: a dead ocean.
The white flag has been raised. Let’s reinvent the way we eat.
On May 18, 2016, Joint Venture NYC and Tara Norvell hosted a pop-up vegan dinner collaboration at Hillside in Brooklyn's Vinegar Hill neighborhood, in support of the Parley for the Oceans movement. Parley White Flag was an evening of inspiration, exploration, and answering a vital call to action. We hope you learned something.
Thank you to our guests, supporters, hosts, foragers, and talented chefs Danny Newberg and Tara Norvell.
