Parley Talks: Chemosphere

Exploring 'Deep Space' from the Hollywood Hills

In May 2016, Parley Talks were hosted by Benedict and Lauren Taschen, Jefferson Hack, Hans-Ulrich Obrist and Cyrill Gutsch at the iconic Chemosphere House in the Hollywood Hills.

Following a day-long workshop at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, leaders from the space, science, ocean and creative communities came together to discuss the state of the oceans, the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, a new paradigm for a future world, and a new Parley program launched to change the ways we explore and protect our life-giving ecosystem.

Speakers included

Dr. Sylvia Earle, legendary explorer and Parley Chief Science Officer; Doug Aitken, artist; Ian Urbina, investigative journalist for the New York Times; Hans-Ulrich Obrist, artistic director, Serpentine Gallery; Jefferson Hack, co-founder Dazed Media; and Cyrill Gutsch, founder of Parley. Singer-songwriter Devendra Banhart also contributed to the evening, with a special musical performance in tribute to the oceans cause.
